Our Story
Long before Auster was imagined, generations of people were drawn to the wide open spaces along the Yellowstone River. Native American tribes navigated its waters and hunted across the surrounding valley for centuries, while elk, bison, and other wildlife followed seasonal migration routes through the landscape. Later came explorers, ranchers, anglers, and travelers drawn to the untamed beauty of southwest Montana.
Rather than compete with the natural environment, Auster is meant to complement it. Days are shaped by the river, the trails, the changing light across the mountains, and the sense of connection that comes from spending time outdoors together in Paradise Valley. Every detail, from our cabin layouts to shared gathering spaces, was created to feel like a natural extension of this vast, ever-changing landscape.
Guided by owner Arthur M. Blank’s vision and commitment to stewardship, Auster joins the AMB West collection in 2026. Our story is centered on welcoming guests and neighbors to experience Paradise Valley—and doing our part to preserve it for generations to come.
